It depends on the school - there are some excellent public and private schools in Escondido. I choose to send my children to public school. They have some amazing teachers at my kids' school; the kids are encouraged to do their best and excel. We have a special reading program for children who are slightly below grade level. A phenomenal GATE coordinator. We are a small school so the downside is we don't have as many programs as some other larger public schools.
Some neighbors choose to send their kids to private school as they feel it is more academically rigorous than my school. I tend to disagree with this as my kids are excelling. In many cases, I think people send their kids to private school because they are biased in that direction. I will admit I am biased toward public school, but we also selected our home based on the quality of the school.
