Be aware there are a number of different school districts in the PHX area, and they do NOT conform to legislative boundaries. (Some schools is Phoenix are in the Scottsdale School District, the Glendal-Union district, etc.) Look carefully before you buy a house. Several of the private high schools are very well regarded, great AP opportunities etc. PHX Country Day, Brophy (for boys) Xavier (for girls). The Basis charter school is very academically challenging, but very small itself so not for those who want a larger socail life, big sports teams, etc. The public schools in Mesa seem to do a good all around job with both sports and academics. I hope you've found a good match for your child!

Comparing Summit School of Ahwatukee (www.summitschoolaz.org) to public schools in the area, Summit has better test scores, smaller class size and exceptional computer and Spanish classes.
