I chose a preschool partly based on visiting the school and word of mouth recommendation. My son went to an excellent preschool, Shepherd of the Valley, which is located within a Lutheran church. Neither my husband nor myself are Lutherans in case you think that is a prerequisite. It is an excellent preschool, very caring people, and there was learning taking place, as opposed to just "day care". It's been awhile of course, but I would highly recommend this school to anyone who lives in Central Phoenix.
Choose a preschool based on your child's needs and your needs. Summit School of Ahwatukee (www.summitschoolaz.org) has everything. If your looking for extraordinary teachers, a safe environment, Spanish and learning centered around play and your child enjoys tumbling and playing outside. Summit meets all of your needs.
i chose a preschool based on my child's needs. he was at a very good preschool for a year and a half however, i started noticing that the classrooms were just too large and he would always cry when i would drop off. so i researched and found a montessori school that only accepted ten children. WOW, what a difference. The one of one attention has made a huge difference and it is the same price and the prior preschool too. very glad i took notice. go with your gut and don't be a sheep.
