Madison City is probably the overall best district only because there are some bad schools in the Huntsville City district. However, the best schools in Huntsville City (Hampton Cove Elementary, Hampton Cove Middle, Huntsville High, Grissom High) are as good or better than the best schools in Madison City. There are also good and bad schools in Madison County district.

With the the recent consolidation of schools and the decentralization of public housing, be very careful about Southeast Huntsville City Schools. ALL of them. Huntsville City School system remains under a 35 year old desegregation order so school zones are continually being re-drawn which should be of real concern for families with small children who will be in the system for several years. With this history, one should not feel comfortable buying a home in Huntsville proper. NCLB opened the door wide for students in under performing schools to transfer freely which is of little comfort but great concern. Huntsville Housing Authority plans to spread public housing throughout Southeast Huntsville. Buyer beware. Go to Madison or Randolph private.

Do you want to know which schools are best in the metropolitan area or which schools systems is best. There are 59 schools in one system, 27 in another, and 9 in the third. Madison City School system is often looked at as the strongest but the schools in East Huntsville and Southeast Huntsville that are part of the Huntsville City School System have higher test scores. There are also several areas in the Madison County School System that outperform the best schools in the Madison City School System.
By far the best administration and a community with high level of parental concern about their children's education. Madison is growing in part due to the school system being the chosen one in the area. Randolph private is the place if money is of no concern. Head and shoulders above the rest with their teaching approach..it's true, you get what you pay for in this geographical area.
