Ditto to healthy 11. A recent study showed that charter schools vary so much just like any other school no real braod advice can be given. However, as a whole they scored better oin the lower and middle school years, but poorlly in the high school area.

I am in a K-8 charter school and I am concerned about hwre my child will go to high school.

While we don't know about specifics, I'd suggest taking a good look through the "Choosing a School" section here on GreatSchools located here: www.greatschools.net/school-choice/

You'll find articles on choosing schools, and the differences between public, private and charter, and have access to great tools that will help you narrow down the choices in your neighborhood.

Good luck, and let us know what you decide!!

Without knowing where you live or anything about the specific schools, it's difficult for us to advise you. I guess I'm wondering how long the charter has been operating, and does it go through as many grades as the public school? (ie, does it stop at 3rd grade, whereas public elementary might go to 6th?) How do the class sizes compare? Have you toured each, to see their facilities, and talked to other parents of currently-enrolled students, to ask them about the pros and cons?
