Can my child go to a different school out of our district??

snjj0503pj
My child attends an Elementery School in the Daviess Co. district. Is it possible for him to be transfered to a different Elementery School which would also be in the Daviess Co. district, but not the same school he is mapped to by location of our address. He has had several issues throughout the passed few years. Such as: he is diagnosed with ADHD and Severe Anxiety Disorder. He is very unhappy and has asked me if he can just go to a new school. He also has a 504 Plan. Which I am not sure that this has helped him at all. And actually for him it has made things worse. What can I do? I don't really know all of my options. And also, at times when dealing with the school staff I feel as though I kind of get the run around. There is another school just down the road from us. Is it possible for him to switch if I provided the transportation? How do I go about doing this?

Contact the school you want your son to attend or call the district to find out what the steps are to transfer schools. The requirements will vary by district but if you are not getting any responses at the school you want to leave, you do have other options.
