Aww..I'm sorry you and your daughter are going through this. I second reading Queenbees and Wannabess. In fact read it together or get two copies. I frequently would review certain passages and we would discuss what was happening. We also read Odd Girl Out. We read these as a precautionary learning and it really taught my daughter how to approach these difficult situations. In fact she had a friend who pretty much did the same thing with making up lies so they had an excuse to hang out with a different group of girls in grade 7. It was hard at the time but luckily she has been very successful with the friendships. I really attribute some of the lessons learned from these books to that. Especially the lesson of sticking up for yourself and not being a doormat.

((Hugs)) Many people feel that Middle School is the most difficult time in a young girl's life, what with entering puberty and finding that familiar friends from years ago may develop different interests. Unfortunately, there are cliques at every school, so I'm not sure where your daughter could expect to go, and not find some of the same types of crowds. There's a book that many people recommend, called "Queen Bees and Wanna Be's," and I think it would be good for both you and your daughter to read it and then decide what to do...
