Moving to Lakewood CO and need to find schools...

gjacobsdwh
My wife, kids and I are moving to the Lakewood CO area. At least that is where my office will be. I am trying to target potential places to live based on the schools we pick for the kids. We need to find a Middle School and High School.

I have looked at that option and was interested in Lakewood High School. It has a high rating, close to a good Middle School, and my office. But I have come across some people that have moved from CO to CA to get away from the school system there. They had kids in Lakewood High that were bullied to the point of forcing the family to make the decision to move.

That's why I am looking for insight that goes beyond the school stats and state test scores.

Hi. Have you tried using the "Find a School" feature on the green menu bar near the top of this page? You can enter a location and grade level, and see a list of all schools in a given area, (public ones are rated from 1 (low) to 10 (high) as well as read parent comments about them.
My personal opinion is to look for a good upper level school, which in your case would be H.S. ~ usually, highly rated high schools are "fed" by great middle schools, but a good middle school may not necessarily feed into a strong high school...
