Where can we get some answers?

mrsjch
My grandson has special needs. We have asked for a one-on-one for 4 years, he district says he doesn't need one. He walked out of school when he was 5 yrs old, noone noticed till another student told the teacher. Then he was sent to a school for kids with emotional problems because his school was abusing him and we called them on it. They won't admit it, and no lawyers will go up against this district, because 1/2 of them live in it. Today, he is 9, and he walked out of his new school, and got 1.53 miles away before they caught him . They actually watched him. Now they have suspended him and we are appalled and at out wits end. This happened mid morning and we weren't notified till late afternoon. The home district wasn't notified till we said something.

You are not the first family that I have heard of this happening to. Here are some additional special education advocate and attorney resources that might be able to give you assistance:

Ok, so now in retaliation of us tellling the school they were wrong, they called Child Protective Services on my DD and SIL. Can we say BIG MISTAKE? Can we say harassment? Can we say major cause of stress for special needs children and family? What next?

Perhaps no "regular" lawyers will go against the district, but I would hope a special education attorney would place the child's needs first. Here is list of some: www.copaa.org/find/index.php

You might also want to join Greatschool's School Violations Group, as the parent in charge of it has a lot of experience and may have other suggestions, like contacting local media so the public realizes what's going on in the schools.
