Does anyone know the name of the reading software that Laura Close referenced in the article "Can Technology Cure Your Child?" in the most recent Great Schools newsletter?
Valle -- thanks very much for posting the name of the software. There are no dyslexia tutors in my immediate area, and I'm struggling to find some "extra" at-home help for my daughter. I will definitely look into this.
Hi all,
I'm the author of that story and I wrestled w/the decision on whether to include the name of the software...I take my responsibility as a reporter very seriously and I didn't want my mentioning that software to seem like an endorsement of that product. I haven't seen the product, I haven't tested it, and the story wasn't meant as a review of any particular software, but rather as an overview of the kinds of remediation technology can offer.
You'll notice that no products were mentioned, for that same reason.
So, with all that in mind, I am happy to tell you that it was called My Reading Coach from Mindplay...http://www.mindplay.com/Default.aspx?tabid=69
You ask a very pertinent question, and it's frustrating that they didn't include name of the software in the article. I saw the "box" to the left side of the first page of the article, where it highlighted some links that you're supposed to be able to search based on a child's needs, but I couldn't get the links to open, either.
I hope someone from Greatschools will answer the question, but in the meantime, I wonder if anyone in the Learning and Attention Difficulties Group at community.greatschools.net/groups/11554 would know?
