Hi. I'm not from CA, but your question is really difficult to answer without knowing the grade level of your child, and what you value most....What I mean is, public schools are rated from 1 (low) to 10 (high) based on how their students performed on recent statewide testing, but private school students don't take the same tests. You can't make a direct comparison. You can click on the "Find a School" feature on the green menu bar at the top of this page, and read parent comments that have been left about some schools, but that may not tell you what you want to know, either. Some parents would say they like a certain school because it has smaller class sizes, or maybe they like a school with on-site daycare and good extracurricular programs, or maybe they prefer a school that includes religious or moral instruction....lots of different factors can affect school comparisons.
(Note: at the high school level, it's a bit easier to look at academic performance, because you can ask both public and private schools to provide their average SAT/ACT scores, and tell you about percentages of students going to 4-year colleges, etc.)
