Do it. The public schools are in very bad shape nowadays. Homeschooling allows you to have control over who your child is interacting with and what they are being taught. I won't go into my own issues here, and I could tell you some horror stories! but after raising 4 kids... I wish I would have insisted on interviewing teachers before my kids were placed into their classrooms. I would have sought out private or homeschooling options much sooner. Our public schools are full of people who should not be around children. Do not sign the "blanket" field trip permission slip, Think twice before allowing your child to be included in the student directory and ALWAYS believe your child when he has a complaint or is uncomfortable in school/classroom. Teaching credentials aren't that hard to get and don't guarantee that person is safe/sane /capable around children. There are NO safety measures in place to keep abusive adults OUT of these positions! And once in...they are extremely difficult to remove.

Hi. Rules for homeschooling vary by state, so you might try doing a "google search" for "Missouri homeschooling" and see if you can find a support group in your area, or you might join and ask your question in Greatschool's Homeschooling Parents Group at community.greatschools.net/groups/11543
