Had you considered the Magnet schools? Attending the High School fair sounds like a good thing to do. Let us know what you find out!

We moved back to Chicago a year ago. My daughter is an 8th grader at a CPS. I am just not real impressed with the high schools that are in my area. I am attending the High School Fair at McCormick in October

Hi. Are you seeking recommendations for public or private schools? Are you new to the city, or have you been here for awhile? Are you seeking a school NOW, or for next year? The reason I ask is because the City of Chicago Magnet schools are considered very good, but there's an application process that I believe takes place in spring. Otherwise, where you live determines which public school your child will be eligible to attend, and you don't have "school choice" per se. My brother-in-law's family has had all of their children attending the CPS Magnet schools, and they can't say enough positive things about them in terms of diversity, good academics and extracurriculars, etc. www.cps.edu/Schools/Find_a_school/Pages/Findaschool.aspx
