Should I RE-Vaccinate my 8 year old son (3 DOSES) because his immunization records are inaccurate?

kukuur1
I decided to try to put my son in private school this year. Apparently, my son's immunization records have always been inaccurate and MCPS (Montgomery County Public School System) did not catch it. His doctors suggests re-vaccinating him. What do I do? I know I am not the only parent struggleing with issues with vaccination and chillren.

Thank you for your input. I have spoken to the school nurse the family doctor that I am uncomfortable, so they have suggested that I vaccinate his "missing" shots one at a time and repeating the blood test. And yes I agree that he will be protected for years to come should his immunity level for all the vaccine related diseases are positive.

I am a family practice Physician Assistant, and have been in the business of vaccinating schoolchildren for many years. If the record can not be found there is no risk in giving vaccinations a second time. You will rest assured that your child's vaccinations are up to date, and they will definitely be protected for years to come. If you have a partial record this can be used by your doctor to guide what other vaccinations he/she may need and most likely they will not have to re-do the entire series. But, be comforted in knowing that this happens all the time, and there is absolutely no risk to re-vaccinating. There is risk in not vaccinating. Best of luck, and remember a little Motrin 30-40 minutes before the shots can help reduce the achy aftermath!

The Pediatrician who vaccinated my child was one that was assigned my the hospital where he was born and they have awful system to get the records. I do not remember the Pediatrician's name or practice. I also have a time crunch from the new school to get this done. It is sad that the immunization record is the only one that I can go by right now.

Is there any way for you to track down a record of the missing vaccinations? This sounds like an oversight on the pediatrician's part. Have you talked to your pediatrician about the risks either way?
