Am I responsible for entire year tuition if my son changes his private school?

Anonymous
I am not happy about my son's school (private). They made many commitments during the open house but it's not like that at all when we enrolled him there. We would like to change his school. They made us signed a tuition contract. Is there a way we could be out of the contract?

Every school's contract is different, so we really can't say what your legal obligations are without reading it ourselves. You could try posting your question on www.lawguru.com, which is a site where attorneys sometimes offer complementary advice.

What does the contract say? Usually it's ironclad and you are indeed obligated to pay unless they would choose to let you leave without paying.
If you want really want out - start talking to the people who admitted your son and tell them the school is NOT as it was presented to you. Give them good examples of what was said during the Open House that is proving not true. Tell them you feel there has been 'false advertising' - that you feel as if you were duped.

That might worry them a bit and maybe shake them up enough to let you go without paying.
Good luck.
