Looking for a high school with motivated teachers and safe environment.

erikamama
We just moved from IL and we have a son will be 10th grade this year. We are looking for a high school with motivated, passionate teachers and has safe environment. We have been looking around in Montgomery County area to live and will make a final decision based on good high school for my son. Any suggestions, please?

When you were looking at the "Find a School" list, if you clicked on the names of individual schools, you should have been able to see more details about each school, and read any Greatschools parent comments that have been made about them. (The caution I have is that sometimes, especially at the high school level, students are computer-savvy enough to register on Greatschools and pretend to be parents, but they leave comments that aren't really from an adult's perspective.)

Thank you for you help healthy 11, I have done "Find a School" feature and saw all the rates and numbers of every high school in Montgomery County. Actually that helped me to narrow down and select several schools to compare. what I am really interested in now is to hear from real people, who attend, teach, or send their kids to the school. Can anybody share his or her experience or observation, please?

Hi. I'm currently in IL, but I've heard many good things about the Montgomery County school system. Have you tried using the "Find a School" feature on the green menu bar near the top of this page? You can enter a location and grade level and see a list of all schools in a given area. Public ones are rated from 1 (low) to 10 (high) based on how their students performed on recent statewide testing. For high schools, you might also contact them and ask about average ACT/SAT scores, percents of kids going on to college, etc.
