Check out garage sales, espcially on saturdays. Most people will probably be selling kids outgrown clothes. Ask and you shall recieve. Always show appreciation, people who are giving will give even more, trust me I'm one of them!

Our school does a drop and swap for clothes. Everyone drops off clothes that are in good condition but grown out of and such. Volunteers sort the items by sex and size tops and bottoms. Two weeks later everyone shows up shopping bags in hand. All the kids wear similar stuff so someone recognizing something they donated is unlikely. Our school does this and it is a great help. We are a uniform mandatory public school but they still recognize that there is a need out there. Perhaps you can suggest one for your kids school. If you direct it you can get first dibs on the good stuff. Voting YES to uniforms helps too. We only spent $65.00 on our 2 kids school uniforms at Kid City (A really great bargain clothing store) I wish you all the best.

You need to go to your local Dept of health and human resources they can give you clothing vouchers for each kid in the amount of 200.00. you can use them at wal mart and places like that .They usually have a cut off date for when they stop giving them but you be able to get emergency assistance . Also look to see if you have a family resource network in your area they can help you out with local churches and other organizations that can help you. Go into thrift stores and talk to the manager about your situation and they may be able to help you out by letting you know if they have special days where you can get bags of clothes and shoes for a 1.00 or when they need to make room for new items and will sell things at a cheaper price. You may also want to check your area for a place called World Vision they can help you. You can place flyer's around at local supper markets asking for donations of the clothes a lot of people are glad to give cloths their kids have out grown away. I know I send my sons cloths to a local church or to anyone who can use them . You may want to talk to your pastor at your church he may be willing to ask for donations of cloths and other items you need from the other members .
I will pray for you to get the help you need I know it is hard to make ends meat even when you are not on ssi so I really feel for you . I just wish I would have known you needed cloths I just got rid of a full box to another lady in a situation much like yours but I would have been glad to have sent them to you . I wish you the best of luck .

Talk to the Manager at Wal-mart store in your area. Where do you live. What size is your 5 years old. Is your five years old a boy or girl.

I hope you find help soon!

oh no, don't have to be new, we even have checked some dumpsters around town, i have found stuff that i can sell and make a little money, for example, there was a nice pair of man's boots, brand new practically, i looked up what they cost and guess what? my daughter posted an ad on craigs list and we made 30 dollars! isn't that wonderful?

you are so sweet, first time i ever got such a nice heartfelt word of understanding and encouragement, i contacted saint vincent de paul and got a food basket, it was so nice full of veggies and the food that trader joes gives to the food closet, lots of salads and goodies, yeah, i would like to get a support group started for moms like me who suffer from mental illness, it can be quite lonely for us, thanks much.

If that church can't help you, you're at the wrong church.

Does the clothes have to be new. I brought a pair of shoes last week for 2 bucks, clean them, put a shine on them and everyone thought they were new, do I care if anyone care if they are new know, the shoes are doing their job.

Call around to other churches. I don't know where Roseville is but in my city, some community centers and civic organizations have been giving out school supplies for free. Any neighbors, friends or relatives with extra clothes their kids may have grown out of? Freecycle is a really good bet too.

I agree with the person who posted about FREECYCLE. Go online and set up an account for free and you can review what people in your community are giving away for FREE -- I believe you do this through yahoo. and, you can also post what you "want' as well and usually get some replies. Especially kids clothes, people usually give away good quality, barely used because kids outgrow them so quickly! good luck!! .

The $1-$5 was for tee shirts which are a buck to pants and shoes which do cost $3.50 to $5. Cheap but not free. There are church programs that provide free clothing too. Also, can your relatives help out with clothes from their kids?

I pray you get a resolution to your problem. And I'm sure those prices can really add up quicly with three children. Turning to your local churches, salvation army, and other human services organization will probably assist you in getting free clothes for your children.

Actually, the prices for a pair of pants at our Goodwill are 3.35 plus tax, dresses are 4.00 and shoes are 4.00, not exactly cheap but oh well, Im grateful.

I am on section 8, the total rent is 1,900 and my portion is 764. Even with this subsidy it is still a challenge, I went to Goodwill and got some really nice clothes, they are $3.35 for pants and shirts, not too expensive but it adds up when you have as many kids as I do. Thanks for all the info.

on another note, you may want to check with your local human services agency to see if you are eligible for some sort of government subsidy [i.e., section eight] to help defray the cost of your rent. I have heard of ppl paying $100 or less for rent with these subsidies. You should also check on assistance with food and other necesssities. Good luck.

also go to discount stores like Marshall's and TJ Maxx [and any outlet stores if they are close]. We get stellar name brand clothes for less than we'd pay at wal-mart or other "marts." I ONLY shop the clearance rack, because I believe it is absolutely silly to pay full price for what you can get dirt cheap. My son wears mostly polo [ralph lauren]. I find polo shirts at these stores for $5-$12.

Goodwill stores have a lot of very nice, gently used clothes for young kids that are priced between $1-$5. I know a lot of people who pick things up there that look really good and are cheap. People give away very nice clothes once their kids have outgrown them plus sometimes you find things that have never been worn and still have the tags.

DO they have to be new?
FREECYCLE IS YOUR BEST BET. Try that first.

Try craiglists for free stuff, and ebay for cheap stuff. Most of time it's in excellent used condition.

I have a bunch of clothes that I refuse to throw away, and want to give to someone who really needs them.

They are size 5T and under, but I also have a few bags of teenage girl stuff and mens stuff..........

You can approach the United Way, Salvation Army, Food Bank or local church for possible back to school donations.
The have back to school campaigns where I live to donate clothes, jackets and school supplies.
