I have 2 kids 3rd and 8th who went to BCCS last year which is now Coral Bay. Taking them out of a regular public school and putting them in this charter school was the best decision I made. They love it. The teachers care about each child and will do whatever it takes for the child to learn, the Coach actually does PE and an overweight child can even loose weight through the program, the Principal is awesome - he really knows the kids and the parents and ensures the environment is good and fair to all the kids. There is no social status where kids are made to feel others are better than them, and a lot less bullying and teasing going on - they seem to have very good control. My 8 year old daughter would come home crying a lot from Park Trails, she had no self esteem and was teased a lot. She is flourshing here and is so happy and proud of herself everyday. When she started her class was way further ahead in Math than at Park Trails. My son doesn't focus so much on the social stuff that was going on at Westglades and is now working on getting good gradyes and focusing. I only wished I had started sooner as my kids would have been better off.
My daughter went to forest glen for the last three years and it was an awesome experience only because she was in the gifted program. Since it went well for her I decided to let my son go there last year for 6th grade, however he is at a regular level and was the worst experience ever a total and complete nightmare! My suggestion is if your child is advanced or above forest glen is wonderful but seek other arrangements for children with average abilities. I pulled him out after attending for almost 4 months and put him into coral bay charter, the school is better than forest glen but they have alot of work to do, they are very unorganized and the kids seem to run the school. I am content in letting him attend again this year for 7th grade but am trying to get him into coral springs charter, I've heard nothing but great things from faculty and freinds who have kids there.
Hello, I have 2 boys that I have enrolled in Coral Bay Academy this August. They are currently in Private school. I had some concerns with the school since it is a combination of 4 charters that are now merging into 1. 3 of the schools received an "A" rating, but 1 of the middle schools received an "F".
The Principal has been in the local news. He is a reservist and just came back from Iraq in January.
My sons are in elementary and I am wondering how the drop off and pick up are going to work out as well as there is no playground on that site.
I've met with the administration several times and have asked numerous questions from class size all the way to lunches.
