I suspect that the American School system does not compare favorably to the Scottish school system. Your children should be going into grade six and grade eight by chronological age (if they will be 11 and 13 by mid-August/September), but they may be educationally advanced beyond their U.S. educated peers. They might need more challenging curriculum, provided in class with their same aged peers.
I would E-mail the school principal and the school district office. Explain the situation fully; explain your concerns, and an introduction of your children (personality, any suspected areas of disability, etc.) It is a good idea to establish an e-mail relationship early on, in order to be kept informed of your children’s progress. Plus, if there are any problems in the future, you will have written documentation.
Do this as soon as possible; do not wait until the first day of school. You need to get things started right away, in case any placement tests or educational evaluations are needed.
Thanks i'm looking an Eagleview middle school at the moment as kids liked that when we were over.We also looked round Challenger but kids didn't like it.
Easy question, the exact grade is determined by the child's birthday, no exceptions. You will have to check with the school district to find out for sure.
FYI, C.S. has some excellent charter schools (free) and private schools also. I believe there is a British school also. Look around a bit. The Air Force Academy area has fine schools.
