Sorry but the Denver County School district is horriable overall you do not want your child growing up in those types of school and especially with a child that needs a little more help much like my own daughter who gets all the wonderful help she needs from the Douglas county school district. To be truethful any thing with the words Federal Heights in it in Colorado should be stayed away from. Sorry for the bad news but thought you should hear the trueth from a parent of a 2nd and 5th grader in the Denver area, actually Castle Rock. Hope this helps.
Local chapers of Chadd are run by volunteers, but in a metropolitan area like Denver, I would expect them to have an active group, with good information. I've been fortunate at some of our local meetings to hear high-quality experts like Chris Ziegler Dendy, and various psychiatrists, social skills and executive function speakers, etc. in addition to talking with other parents who share resources about good schools, doctors, etc. Their membership magazine has many informative articles, too.
Thank you very much. I did join the group you suggested. I will check into Chadd again. I have never even tried it though I have read their website a few times.
Hi. I'm not from CO, but I have a child with ADHD and an IEP....I'm afraid the chance of finding another family on Greatschools with a child who has similar needs and is attending a particular school is slim. My advice is to try and join a local parent support group, like www.chadd.org, and network through those families to find out about the best schools, programs, and other resources in a given community.
For general questions, I'd also like to invite you to join Greatschool Learning and Attention Difficulties Group at community.greatschools.net/groups/11554
