There's nothing wrong with posting similar answers to similar questions. It can be hard for local questions to get answered here because we are a national website and there is also a lot of confusion where people think they are posting on a local or school-based website. I'm very thankful Healthy takes the time to point people in the right direction.

Thank you for posting this information, healthy11! I'm in Arizona, just not in Phoenix.

to the original poster, have you done a GreatSchools school search yet? In the upper right of the webpage there is a search box. Check the "schools" box, and enter your city & state. Then click "GO" and it will give you a listing of all the schools in that area. The best schools are listed at a GS rating of 9 or 10. Parents can also review schools on a 5-star system, so look for schools that have 4 or 5 stars as well. Good luck in your search.

Hi. Unfortunately, Greatschools is a nationwide forum, and the chance of finding another family from a particular town, who has a child with similar diagnoses is slim. How old is your special needs child/what grade? I'm not from AZ, but I have a child who has ADHD and LDs. I know some schools might have good reputations for handling certain kinds of LDs, but not others. My advice is to try and contact a local support group for whatever your child is diagnosed with (ie, www.chadd.org for ADHD, or www.interdys.org for dyslexia) and network through those parents to get recommendations on the best schools and other resources in a given community.

For general questions, you might like to join the Learning and Attention Difficulties Group at community.greatschools.net/groups/11554
