HI. Unfortunately, Greatschools is a nationwide forum, and the chance of finding another family from a particular town, with a child of similar age and circumstances, attending a particular school is slim. I'm not from Montana, but I think I can answer some of your questions. As in all situations, some kids are going to be more accepting of new classmates than others. It's human nature. As far as homework, it's going to vary depending on the individual teacher and grade level. We don't know your child's age, but in most schools, the "rule of thumb" is roughly 10 minutes per grade level, with additional reading always encouraged. (In other words, a first grader might have 10min, a 3rd grader might expect 30 minutes/night.) I'm not from Montana, but do live in a northern city where it does snow, and generally, schools stay open no matter what the weather. Unless it's a blizzard, with strong winds and a foot of snow predicted in a short time, so they can't plow the roads, you just dress your kids appropriately, with boots, gloves, hat, jacket and snowpants, and they're fine.
