Math tutoring in San Gabriel Valley????

eenya77
Hi. My son will be entering 7th grade in Sept. His grades are passing but not great. Especially math. He got D- for this final trimester. He has always struggled in math. Does anyone know of community programs or something you can recommend for help? I tried mAthnasium (350$ for 2 months) All he did was do pages in a work book. He needs one on one help starting from the basics. We live in Rosemead but I am willing to travel to surrounding areas. Thanks alot.

I highly recommend Kumon Learning Center. This Center is the best for any child at any age. They start children at 3 years old and the center goes all the way thru high school. If the entire United States based their learning upon the Kumon Learning method we would be the smartest nation in the World. My daughter has had the advantage at starting at 3 years old. She is now 8 and is reading at 6th grade level and her math is at 5th grade level. It has nothing to do w/her being bright it is just the method that Kumon uses. You will not see results over night but with everything practice and dedication makes an outstanding student.

Hi eenya77, and welcome to GreatSchools Parent Community.

My suggestion would be to contact your nearest community college or even Cal Poly Pomona and see if you can find a student to work with your son. My son is at a college in Ventura County and he gets job offers all the time to tutor both high school and college kids. If you think he'd do better with an education major, you can also see about getting a student working toward a math credential program.

While at my son's school, it's offered through the math department you might find that it's through the career center/employment office at colleges in your area.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
