My son will be going into 7th grade - middle school. Which school have parents chosen?

My choices are between Lakeview, which scored a 3 on this site, and Excelsior, which has a 6. Lakeview's API is ridiculous, while Excelsior is an independent study charter school. I'm worried about my son missing out on social interactions because I want him in a safe environment.

As you've noted, Greatschools is a nationwide forum, and there aren't a lot of people from any one town, much less those with kids at specific schools, who post their views. If I were you, I'd try to schedule a visit to the schools, and see what you personally think after having had a chance to talk to the administrators and seen the facilities.

I wish that more parents would use this website to post their opinions on their children's schools. It is really difficult to choose a school in this area when you do not know many people, and the scores are so low. It seems like it would be better to just home school all my children then to send them somewhere where they could be hurt or their education will suffer.
