Wanted to know if a student can take Bio-Honors and Chemistry-Honors together in 10th grade? Bit confused and even the counselor is not able to provide concrete information
Hi. Like SoCalGal, I'm not in PA either, but at my son's high school, the curriculum for honors biology and honors chemistry were not "tied together" such that one was a mandatory prerequisite for the other. They really seem to cover different scientific topics, so if the counselor doesn't have a reason why it couldn't be done, and your child is a strong student, then I would push for registration unless they present you with written documentation that says it's not allowed. (If your school only schedules honors classes at one time frame, and they happen to be offered at the SAME time, then that's a different issue, and it might be a legitimate reason why both can't be taken at once...)
I see that you are in Audubon, PA and I'm in Southern California -- so I can't give you a specific answer and it may be days before someone on this site can. But I can suggest how you can your answer:
Call the assistant principal and follow it up with an email. Provide this individual with some info such as your student's current math level and grades in those math classes as well as any others classes that he or she has already complete such as 9th grade honors English.
If you don't get a timely answer, forward your email to the principal and then onto the superintendent.
