I'm very active in DSISD and would suggest you make an appointment with someone in our Education & Curriculum Dept. In addition, the principal at Walnut Springs Elementary is very knowledgeable and could answer many of your questions/concerns. It may be difficult to find a place to rent for $800/month, but there are some apartments and duplexes that are nice. I'm just not sure how much rent is. I hope this helps.

Hi. I'm not from TX, but I'm wondering if your son has ever been evaluated by the school system for possible learning disabilities? He sounds like he needs more individualized assistance than he's getting in a regular classroom, but you need to find out why, and then "teach to his strengths." I'd like to suggest that you join and post a bit more about his specific struggles in the Learning and Attention Difficulties Group at community.greatschools.net/groups/11554
