How can I help my daughter make better friends?

fairmom
Her friends now are bossy, rude, and they bulley her around. they are forcing her to go against my request not to walk home. She doesn't want to look independent and is telling me that I am too overprotective. She's only 12.

Sometimes teachers will suggest other children in the class or the grade that they think might make good friends for your daughter. Other than that, do you know any other families in the grade who have children? It gets hard when they're 12 but it's still possible with hard and quiet work to foster friendships but inviting others to the house after school or on weekends.
As to forcing your daughter to walk home, you can upgrade your request to her not to walk home with her friends - you can require it of her but sometimes that invites a battle.
Good luck.
