Moving from Chicago to Batavia

We are considering moving from Chicago to Batavia. Can anyone tell me about the overall culture? Is the area conservative or liberal. Is there a sense of community? How diverse is it? What are options for young families on the weekend - museum, restaurant, etc.??????
