New to Idaho moving in June.

robfamily05
We will be moving to the Meridian/Boise ID area in June 08. My three children will be going into 4th and 1st (twins). We are currently in a charter school and have high expectations of any school they attend. Can anyone help me know what schools to look at and which ones to stay away from. I would like to have an idea before I go in June so I can look at homes near the schools. We figure we that can always find a good home by a good school, but may not find a good school by a good home.

Hi and welcome to Boise! I would highly recommend Highland Elementary school for your children. It is in a very nice area of Boise ( Highlands Area) and the teachers and faculty are spectacular. I grew up in the area many moons ago and it is was and still is the best elementary school in the state, as well as middle (North Junior High) and high school (Boise High.) There is very high parent involvement with the school and community.
I wish you luck and please feel free to ask any more questions about the area or schools. Cheers :)

That is what I am doing now, and how I found this blog area.

I think you're wise to look for the schools first, then the house. Have you tried using the "Find a School" feature on the green menu bar near the top of this page? You can enter a location and grade level, and see a list of all schools in a given area. Public ones are rated from 1 (low) to 10 (highest) based on how their students perform on statewide testing.
