Highschool education in Irvine compared to Canada?

Hello, Im moving from Vancouver, Canada to Irvine in the summer and im REALLY EXCITED! Irvine is such a beautiful city. One thing that has kept me nervous is that i have heard, Irvine High School's education is extremely hard. I have been really worried how much harder the education there would be compared to Canada. I am currently a ninth grader here taking honours in science, socials and english, but i've also heard my history of grades in Canada will be ignored here in the states. As much as i want to look forward to my relocation to Irvine, all this word about the intense academic education there is giving me second thoughts...can someone give me some insight pleae?

Hi. I'm not from Irvine, but I've stayed with a friend who lived there! One of her sons is bright, but had some learning disabilities, and I know he thought classes were really challenging, but her other kids liked their schools. They actually moved to Minnesota right before the oldest started High School, so unfortunately I can't tell you if the Irvine high schools are a lot different than elementary schools. I think if you're an honors student, you'll be fine no matter where you're at. It might take a semester or two to feel as comfortable in school as you do where you're currently at, but I encourage you to join an extracurricular club that's similar to whatever you're involved with now (band, drama, sports, debate, etc.) and by meeting new kids while doing activities you enjoy, you're bound to make new friends soon.
