My daughter is going into 6th grade next year.. She is having so much difficulty understanding her math which she has pretty much always struggled with .. But she has been doing review sheets for homework everynight during the week .. ( we spend at the min an hour and a half on these worksheets her teacher states that she should be completing in 10 mins .) Again these are review sheets and she has practiced that day at school.. By the time I get off and pick her up from afterschool care its as if she forgot everthing the teacher showed her or taught her that day .. Last night she came home with the same exact math worksheet she had for homework only a month ago ( again this is review) She attempted to do the 10 problems at afterschool and yes I said 10 problems when she got home I checked her work 1) She does not put any effort in showing her work on problems that work must be shown . 2) Every problem on the worksheet of 10 were wrong as if she just looked at it for

If you're not sure, then she prrobably doesn't have the proper testing or a formal 504Plan and definitely not an IEP. Otherwise, there would be annual meetings (sometimes even more frequent) that take place with a team of teachers, the school psychologist, administrators, and yourself. It sounds like you need to request the formal comprehensive educational evaluation, and go from there.
Please, join and post in the other group, community.greatschools.net/groups/11554

ADHD is a medical condition, but Learning Disabilities are a separate issue. It's quite common for students with ADHD-Inattentive type to struggle with math LDs...Does your daughter have an IEP or 504 Plan? If your daughter hasn't been given a recent comprehensive educational evaluation for LDs then it sounds like that's what you need to request. The request must be made formally, in writing. The parent who leads the Learning and Attention Difficulties Group also has a daughter with math difficulties. Please post there. community.greatschools.net/groups/11554

Yes she is in public school . She has been on ADD meds since 2nd grade . I raised the dose of meds this year thinking she was getting tolerant to the meds..It seems to be even worse now.. Her teacher said she just seems to be day dreaming and not paying attention

Hi. Is your daughter attending a public school? Have you ever requested that she be evaluated for possible learning disabilities? You have that right as a parent. I would encourage you to join and repost your question in the Learning and Attention Difficulties Group here at community.greatschools.net/groups/11554 and other people can help explain the evaluation process to you...
