If your daughter told you a homeless man was watching the children play at recess

from the woods behind the school, what would you do? When the principal was confronted with this fact, her reply, "Well, he needs somewhere to live too."

I would be frightened and question whether or not this man was homeless or actually a pedophile. I think if it were my daughter I would notify the police of this activity and just let them know that its left me feeling a bit uncomfortable and while I can't say that he is or is not homeless... I can say that I'm worried for my child and her classmates safety as this seems to be peculiar behavior for any adult.

Has anyone called the police? The police may be able to question the man to see what's going on.

In the meantime, tell your daughter that if she sees the guy again, to immediately tell an adult who's out in the yard.

I agree with MSMomm. Even if this guy just "lives in the woods," he shouldn't be hanging around the school yard scaring the children. In my experience (and we have A LOT of homeless people in San Francisco) homeless people are usually on drugs, alcohol or mentally unstable in some way.

Here there are laws about adults hanging around parks or school yards without a child with them. I suspect most places have similar laws in effect.
I'm surprised that the principal was so nonchalant about it!

Regardless if this man does or does not need a place to live, it is in no way appropriate for him to watch the children at play. It could be perfectly harmless, but really, why take that chance.

I, too, recommend giving the police a call and see if they will go and check this person out. I doubt that even if any of the students tell an adult outside the man is there, anything would be done about it.

I would make sure to tell other parents to speak with their children and remind them never to go off with a stranger.
I would have the police check it out too. And I would tell the principal to be a little more proactive about the safety of the students...including my child. And there are shelters and such for homeless people, the "woods" is not a "home" for humans unless you build some sort of shelter there with sanitary means...really... for the principal to say that is just so stupid. she would have sounded more intelligent if she simply said "I don't care".

why would a homelessman watching childrens play outside?call the police and see if they going to help because that is bad to see a home less man watching you play out side of your house they will do something to you or take you to they house and they will mot let you go back to your house because they ask to stay with them and you trying to run from them and they pull you leg and tie you up on the rope.
