Should students be allowed to use the restroom as needed?

CMarie
I am currently a 9th grade student. I am enrolled in all honors classes. Now, shouldn't I be allowed to go to the restroom whenever I need to go? In eighth grade, I asked my reading teacher if I could go to the restroom. She said "No". I stood there and said "What do you want me to do?" She said "Alright, you can go but don't expect to get full credit!" So, I went. When I came back I raised my hand and asked "Are you really going to take off points for me going to the bathroom?" She said YES! I said "WHY?" She said "Because it is unfair to the other children". The whole class laughed! I was amazed. The next period I went to the office and told the Dean. He said he would get my points back. This is still going on. This year In each class I have two passes for every nine weeks! We have to hold it if we already used our passes. I want to know what you think about this.

I really feel bad for this girl that had to go and couldn't go.
But if it gets to that point just go, does she lock the class room door, or what.
I mean this sound crazy. That poor girl had to pee her pants.
Nothing was done about this?
I always told my kids if you have to go just go, I'll deal with the teacher or the school.
I think thats just plain mean of someone to do and humiliate a human like that .

My school is so big that there is NO time to go before class. This teacher is known for doing this and I do not have a problem but when i have to go... i have to go. When I was in seventh grade I witnessed a girl peeing her pants in front of the whole class. I can't imagine. This girl didn't have a medical problem she just had no time to go and the teacher wouldn't let her.

The thing is I do not take her authority seriously. I am not going to let her tell me I can go. Numerous kids have had this problem with her. I am not three years old and there is no reason she would not trust me.

Yes they should be allowed to go to restroom. It is ashame how these schools require a doctors excuse to go to the restroom ridiculous. The problem teachers dont trust the students based on incidents done by others and it is not fair. You use when you have to at home.

Yes, students should be allowed to go to the restroom whenever they need to - within reason. If a younger student is leaving the classroom a lot, then there is an issue. But for the most part I think going to the restroom should be allowed as needed.
