Has anyone ever participated in this event where you turn off all media for a week?
I love the idea of monitoring how much TV my family watches, but as a TV-film major from college, I always find it interesting these events coincide with the beginning of season openings and season finales, so they hardly appeal to people who actually enjoy these shows (this year it's April 20-26 and September 20-26). And turn off my computer for a week? Not a chance.
Since I would never miss a season opener or the final few episodes of a show I really enjoy, I'd be a hypocrite to make my kids miss their shows to teach a lesson.
I'm more a fan of moderation--in all counts.
Here's a great article with tips to manage media here on GreatSchools: www.greatschools.net/cgi- bin/showarticle/650?cpn=h omeflash_media
