Thank you guys for the recommendations. I have selected Woodlake Elementary School in Mandeville, Louisiana. My daughter had a great first day of school!!!!

The best public schools in the st. tammany school district, who have the highest scores on standardized/state test, who recieve more district resources, more parent participation, smaller student/teacher ratios, have more highly qualified teachers are those located in Mandeville.

I am not from Mandeville, I live in Covington, but have subbed in Mandeville and covington, I have also studied the resources, participation, scores, statistics for all schools in the district and tell you Mandeville is the area you are looking for without any hesitation!

I have a child in Bonne ecole elementary in Slidell. It is a very good school. We definitely recommend it. I am a substitute teacher, too. I spend most of my time at Little Oak Middle. It is an excellent school! The feeder schools for it are also great. They are Cypress Cove and Honey Island. Any of these schools will be great choices.

We have been in the "Military Rd" schools for three years. I have daughters in 4th grade (Little Oak), 2nd grade (Honey Island), and K (Cypress Cove). Overall, I have been very impressed with the caliber of teaching and academic programs at all three schools. I am most impressed with Little Oak, but all three are good. My only complaint is the structure: K-1 at CCE, 2-3 at HIE, 4-6 at LO...and so on. For families with children close in age, it is extremely difficult to stay involved at multiple schools and in multiple PTA's. Mostly, I just rotate kids each year and become really involved at the PTA at one school and just volunteer in the classroom in the others. I feel like my time as a volunteer could be much better spent if I were devoting my time to a K-5 or K-6 school instead. Even if you have only one student in these schools, it can be difficult to have them change schools every other year and learn a whole new set of expectations and administration. My oldest is very shy and it's been hard for her to keep changing all of the time. For the others it's not as big of a deal. If I were moving to Slidell, the only other school I'd really consider is Bonne Ecole. I've heard very good things about it and love that it is a K-6 school.
