Is she burned out? It might be that she is overwhelmed and lost in school. I would have a talk with her teacher. Find out what the teacher thinks is causing her lack of interest. It might be that the lessons are too hard - or even too easy! Then take the next step of talking to your daughter about it. Ask her why she doesn't like school so much anymore. Really listen to her. Respect her opinion. I'm very interested to hear her reply. Make sure you post more information.

When such a young child seems to lose interest in school, something's up. Teenagers lose interest in school but 1st graders usually don't. What does her teacher say?
And how is her reading? Sometimes very young children who seem lost interest in school are found to be quietly struggling with reading - school's not fun or interesting if you can't read the handouts and homework the teacher is giving you. Has your daughter been tested as to her reading skills by the school's reading specialist?
Other than that, is your daughter unhappy at school? Is her teacher pleasant in manner or scary and mean? Are the other children friendly and warm or is some one of them bullying your daughter so that school's become a scary place?
You might think about going into school one day and observing to see how your daughter is in school. When she's in school, does she seem just unfocused and disinterested to does she seem unhappy? You'll be able to tell the difference and that might give you some insight into the problem.
Good luck.

Hi. Did your daughter experience a similar "loss of interest in school" when she was in kindergarten? Some kids get "spring fever" and start to daydream about summer vacation, etc., but usually it doesn't "hit" until later.
How does your daughter act at home? Has she shown a similar change of attitude towards things she liked to do? Is she listless and uninterested in other activities? If so, I'd definitely talk to her doctor about possible medical issues that could be affecting her.

If your daughter's issues seem confined to school, I wonder if she's dealing with some type of learning or attentional difficulty. When the work gets harder, as can be expected as children get older, then kids naturally tend to avoid tasks that they find to be too difficult. Does your daughter seem to struggle with reading? Does she have trouble with spelling/printing? What does her teacher say? Have you asked your daughter what she thinks is the reason?

If your daughter says school is hard, again, I think it's best to start with a comprehensive vision and hearing exam, not just a screening, to make sure your daughter is able to see and hear properly...A child who can't see the print clearly is going to have trouble with reading, copying from the board, writing, etc.
