I would like to know if there is anyway I can monitor and check on homework assignments and grades without having to wait to talk to a teacher or counselor?

I have a son in middle school, and his school provides all students with a "daily planner." His teachers require that he jot down his assignments for the day, or the week, depending on what the teacher prefers. At least in my son's classes, the teachers actually grade their students' daily planners, to make sure the students are recording their homework assignments.

You could provide your child with some sort of planner to record homework assignments. You could also ask your child's teachers if they would be willing to send you an email with your child's grades.

Many schools have a parent portal that will give you access to your child's grades (and sometimes assignments). Contact the school or check their website for additional information. I'm sure your child's teacher could also tell you if the school has a parent portal.
