OK, there are several things you can do.
1. some schools offer summer school and the ability to retake a test.
2. some schools dont offer summer school, but you can help your child study and then retake the test.
3. I have seen parents put their kids in tutoring programs like the Sylvian learning centers and the kids are tutored and then retake the CRCT test.

I could be totally wrong, but it is my impression that for your kid to move up a grade, then must pass these tests first. anyone correct me if I am wrong.

I want to be sure we understand your situation....When you say your child was denied despite scores, is that to say he got scores that were high enough to move ahead, but the school isn't letting him for some other reason? Or did he not do well enough on some state testing, and you're seeking ways to help tutor him so he might be able to retake the test and move into the next grade in fall, rather than repeating a grade?

Home schooling your child helps them progress much faster than in the typical classroom because it is tailored to your child. I took my daughter out of public school in the middle of third grade and she began sixth grade in a public school a year and a half later, skipping one grade level. I had her tested at the end of third grade, and a year later on fifth grade. Home schooling is a lot of responsibility, but well worth it. In WV, you must notify the county board of education two weeks prior to removing your child from public school of your intention to home school, give them a copy of your own high school diploma, and have your child tested at the end of each year as proof of your child's progress.

Greatschools does have a Homeschooling Parents Group that you might want to join, at community.greatschools.net/groups/11543

I held her back before Kindergarten. She is coming from a private school to a public schhol. Since her scores are by of a different system, and I teach in a public school, they do not want to give a teacher's child special privaledges and set that presidence. It is not a matter of retesting but one of how to accelerate her a grade level to where she will satisfy reqirements for 8th grade.

Am I understanding that your daughter is currently in a private 7th grade, and you want her to skip 8th grade, so she can enter public high school as a freshman this fall?
I'm not sure what TN homeschool rules are for showing 8th grade proficiency, but if she's already performing on a 12th grade level, and the high school doesn't want to let her in, then I'm not sure if they would let her in after a "homeschool summer" either...I suggest you contact the Board of Education in TN and clarify what the rules are.
