I recently moved to North Carolina from Florida, because of my job promotion! I love my son! As a single parent, children don't understand the sacrifices that has to be made. This one is for the better!
What to do when your child does not want to move to another state?

Sign up for 'Skype' so he can stay in touch and view w/ his friends. It's the closest thing to being there. We went thru this, and he helped SO much. We also planned to go back and visit during summer break to visit, took some of the 'unknown' away, and a focus then on 'forward planning'. Therefore took away some of the stress. Skype service is free - though you must have a camera on your computer and if not, you can buy one. Good luck!! It is Survivable for ALL!!!!
My son is twelve years old. And you're right about the move being tough on him. So i'm currently thinking about enrolling him into a sport. Thank you very much for your help!
I agree with MSMomm; your son is obviously missing his friends and familiar surroundings. The best way for him to meet new friends is by participating in similar activities that he enjoyed before. I know Scouting is a great thing for boys to be involved in, especially if they don't have a male mentor to look up to, so that may be something "new" to have him try, if he hasn't already.
How old is your son? Moving is tough for everyone; it means making new friends, new school, new room, new house. Your son is leaving the neighborhood where he had friends, his school and teachers.
If he's interested in sports, you can check out your local department of parks and recreation or the local YMCA.
Good luck.
