We are from Europe and I do not know the US school system. My son will turn 3 in June. Will he be able to attend preschool or should he go to daycare?
Thank you very much!

I believe your daughter would go into kindergarten. The cutoff date for kindergarten in TN is to be 5 years old September 30. In TN, "No child shall be eligible to enter 1st grade. . .without having attended an approved kindergarten program" (TN ST ยง 49-6-201). If your daughter is currently in kindergarten, I suggest you contact the district to see how to get her current program approved. Their website is www.mauryk12.org/webschool.htm

Preschools in the US can be either public or private. Private schools will have varied ages that are accepted, it is up to the individual school. In Tennessee, the age requirement for public pre-k is 4 years old. Here is a link to the pre-k information. tn.gov/education/prek/pre_k_home.shtml
