I'm not quite sure what you mean "for fundraising." Is your son in 8th grade, or high school? Is there going to be a teacher or other adult supervising these activities? If you could give more details, we might be able to share more specific information.
My initial reaction is that if your son is in high school, the activity probably involves a mix of students from Freshman to Seniors, and there were several times when my son stayed at school until 10 p.m. on school nights, and even later on weekends. While I did not like having to pick him up so late, it was less of a problem when he turned 16 and could drive himself.
As in many things, the answer depends on the child. If your son is used to having very strict rules, you might start to relax those a bit. Begin to give him some freedom so he can make his own choices. Realize he will make mistakes, as we all do. Stay close to him so you can help to prevent him from making major mistakes, but let him make some small mistakes so he can begin to learn from them. Good luck!
