I'm moving to the Boston area and I'm looking for an elementary school. My husband's job will be in Natick.

Have you tried using the "Research and Compare" feature on the green menu bar near the top of this page? You can enter names of towns, and grade level you're interested in, and see what schools are in the area, and how the public school students rate on statewide testing.

Were you hoping to live right in Natick or a surrounding town? Sudbury is just east of Natick and has a very good school system. I would stay away from Framingham - the system is large and somewhat overwhelmed with a more trasient population. Generally speaking, Westboro is a nice town with a solid school system. Harvard is a small and rural town with a good reputation.

If you can live a bit closer to Boston, Concord Carlisle is an excellent system.

Of course, the closer to Boston, the higher the real estate prices!

Thank you for your answer.
I actually know nothing about the Boston area beside that it is very expensive. I'm French and live right now in Wisconsin with my family. My son will be in 5th Grade next September.
What do you think an affordable place would be considering a commutable distance (30mn) from Natick ?
Thank you

Natick schools are not bad, but there are many more solid school districts in the area. Another poster mentioned Sudbury, which is where we live. The schools here are great, but the cost of living is high. Ditto for Wayland, Weston, Wellesley, and Dover-Sherborn which are all close to Natick. Westborough is also good, and a reasonable commute to Natick. I would also agree with the prior posting, and avoid Framingham. It's a large school system, with some pluses, but definitely it's share of minuses. Concord, Carlisle, and Harvard that were mentioned are not good commutes to Natick, although they have very good schools.

If you want MCAS (state standardized testing) scores, go to the MA Department of Education website directly. You'll get a ton of information, and can even view prior tests to see if the subject material being taught is in line with the same grades in your current state. Here's the link:

Natick has a good school system and is a fairly low cost of housing when compared to Woburn, Wellesly...Why not just live in Natick?
