Need advice from parents of Saint Anne students (in Laguna Niguel)

ninjamom
My son is currently in Kindergarten and I am considering moving him next year to Saint Anne. I've heard mixed reviews though about the school (strength of academics, teachers encouraging a sense of competitiveness in the classroom, etc.) Would like to hear from any parents of current or past students about your child's experience there. What do you like and dislike about the school. Thanks!

Hi there,
My kids have been at St. Anne School for 4 years, and I have had kids in all grade levels (I have 3). I currently have 2 enrolled at St. Anne. If you are looking for a warm and friendly environment, where learning is valued and the development of the whole child is truly emphasized, then St. Anne will be a great fit for you. The community of families is wonderful - there are lots of possibilities for parents to participate in their child's education - this is something I love about St. Anne. But you are not required to do hours if you are unable. I have one child who has already graduated from St. Anne who attends a very competitive high school - he was so well prepared by St. Anne School that he tested into four honors courses as a Freshman. So my experience is very broad - we have attended form Preschool through 8th grade - and I currently have one entering kindergarten. You will be wowed by the academic programs and all they have to offer. Also, St. Anne has the most up-to-date technology for the most effective teaching. All in all, it is a great school, though it is not perfect. They are always working to improve their programs and the progress makes me believe they are committed to creating the best Preschool-8th grade program in the area.

Thanks NMADad. So are the teachers/ administration able to handle these situations in the correct way and not "give in" to the parents' pressure or does money talk at the end of the day?

BTW, what grade is your child in now?

THX

Academically, it's a good school. Classroom environment is healthy. The problem with St. Anne is that a lot of the parents epitomize the "helicopter" parent. The families who go there are also overwhelmingly wealthy , and there's a lot of "my child can do no wrong syndrome." So, be prepared to deal with a lot of spoiled kids whose parents need to realize that their little Johnny is all that.
