the point loma cluster schools have a strong VAPA (visual and performing arts) focus. most of the elementary schools have individual programs. loma portal elem. has a k-4 articulated music program/teacher. ob elementary dabbles in many of the art areas. the lower & upper middle schools along with the high school have award winning bands. the lower middle school offers students electives (5th-6th grade) which include art, theater, musical theater, chorus, band, orchestra, etc. the upper middle school's art program is amazing --taught by an active artist (not a core subject teacher). Programs carry on to HS.
