Can someone please help me

We are planning on relo'ing to either Farm or Avon. I am hearing horror stories of how difficult Avon can be-too overly competitve and that since it is an affluent area there is the excessive peer pressure of what you wear/neiborhood you live in/drive etc...even in the elementary schools. I really want to make sure we make the right decision so I could use some help!
Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome. My family and I have moved from out of state and we were looking at Avon and Farmington. I live in Avon and my kids did go to Avon elem school. If I had to do to it over I would suggest Farmington for they are more accommodating for diversity. There are people as you mentioned here.

I live in Avon. The schools are some of the best in the entire state, and they are the best in Htfd. county. All of the parents I have met are great, down to earth, non-pretentious people who want the best for their kids. I've lived in Avon for 8 years, and I have yet to encounter a parent who fits the unwarranted Avon stereotype of a judgemental snob (and some of the parents we associate with are VERY well off). Avon is a great, amazing, safe place to raise a family.

I'd also like to suggest visiting the schools in person, if you can. Talk to some of the parents and students at these schools to get a better idea of how things are there. If you can, bring your kids with you to tour the schools so they can see for themselves.
