Is there some way to send your child to a public school that isn't in your district?

mykidsed
My child is an honor student at a Private School. The district that she is slated for for 6th grade is rated a 1 out of 10! I can no longer afford private school but definitely DO NOT want her going to the school in our district. Besides moving, what options do I have?

There are 5 ways to attend school in a different district.
1. Racial Transfer--If there is less than 70% of your race at the school she is to attend, she can transfer to another school. Please know that our school system categorizes race into only Black and Other. I was told the school you transfer to must be less than 70% of your race as well, so be prepared to be disappointed. It makes NO sense!
2. AYP--If the school has not made their Annual Yearly Progress goals, she can request a transfer to a school that has.
3. Medical reason--must have doctor's note
4. Magnet School--AAA and ASFL are the two magnet schools, but you must apply early and your child will be interviewed.
5. LIE!! Use a relative's address and pay their utility bill for a couple of months to show proof. TONS of people do this and are never caught! I don't condone this, but I'm certainly not above doing what's best for my child!
