Farney elementary, Goodson middle and Cy-woods high school are high rated schools, my kids went to these schools and I find the curriculum very challenging and plus my kids were very happy, unfortunately we had to moved to another state because of my husband's job. Them and I ended up very dissapointed with the schools they are going right now, they are nothing compared to the ones they were going.

I actually have went to another school out of my area for a few years. I live in Katy but I go to school in Houston. The reason it worked out so well was because I can keep a really high avergae. My contract was that if I slipped below a "B" average, I was to be sent back to my district. I currently do that for high school too.

What would you do if get not so "lucky" and the students being pulled from Ault and Keith aren't the ones you'd prefer? I think you should reconsider picking a school that is established and has a good record for years-like Ault and Keith. That is your best bet, I think.

Is it possible for you to put your home for sale and move into the apt. zoned for Ault until you can get a home in that subdivision? For me, it would be too risky to rent one just for the address, because I don't think I could live with always looking over my shoulder and trying not to make anyone mad because the may "turn me in". Not to mention, my children seeing me "fudge" and coaching them to a certain degree about not talking about where they live.

My house is old, nasty, and needs to be demolished, but it's worth it for us to be in these schools we are zoned to. I tell my son, "we didn't buy a house, we bought a piece of dirt, so you could have a good school."

The new school will open in August and it seem to be in a very nice neighborhood and will be pulling students from Keith and Ault, which are exemplary schools. Swenky will be near the Outlet on 290,nice neighborhood though which makes a difference in schooling. Is it likely to get caught if you use an address in the school zone and do not stay there the whole time? I am desperate. My children were not use to this type of school. They went to Elm Grove and they were awesome.

Yellasummer, the schools in that area are rated very low, check this to check on the schools ratings, Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District on your browser and scroll down to Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District where you can see the school ratings and parent reviews are, click there and it will show you the name of the schools, ratings and parent reviews, from there you can be able to see which schools are best rated, the best rated are from 7to 10. I had the same problem as you, I moved to Houston and bought a beautiful home over there but my HUGE mistake was that I moved without first checking the ratings of the schools and I got so dissapointed that we have to sell our beautiful home and move to the area of Cypress, the schools there have 10/10 ratings and my kids and I were happy with the schools.

I couldn't find Swenky on this site, so if it's too new to be rated, you may find yourself in the same situation, but an added 30 minute drive. If you cannot move, I have known people to rent an apartment in the school zone they want their children to attend for address purposes. It happens a lot in my district, but if you get caught doing that where I am, the children will be kicked out. But so many people do it in our district, they actually check the address--and sometimes "friends" turn in their "friends".

My kids go to Andre and it is a horrible school if I would have done my research I would have never moved in that area. It is hard to move outside of my area to another school. The principal is not help and neither is the school district. They just tell me that the schools are closed for transfers and will not accept any at all even for next year unless I move to their area. This is crazy I was thinking. But I will try to see if if I can get them in another new school named Swenky I think, I will drive 30 minutes from my home to get them their that is if they take them, because I do not know how they decide if you can get a transfer or not. So I still may be stuck. Please help if you can.

It is hard to get into another school if you are not in the subdivision area, unless is a private school. I tried this when we recently moved to Texas, I have to pay I think like $25.00 to put her in a school that was not on her subdivision but when the year finished, she has to go to the school of her subdivision, so we decided to move to Cypress and look for the schools rated 7-10.

I see that you are in Cypress, TX, we used to live in Cypress Rosehill off 290 and we loved the place and the schools as well, we moved here to California, the public schools from Cypress are excellent, you don't have to worry at all, since the public schools are as excellent as a private school.

I think it depends on the district. What district are you in?

It depends on the school.
Cy-Fair has open and closed Campus'.
Open Campus' you can have your child go to, but only if you live in the school districts boundaries.

Closed campus' you cannot have your children attend unless you live in that particular school's boundaries.

Also, you have to take care of transportation for your children if you do not have them attending the school your subdivision/neighborhood is zoned to.

Yes. Most schools offer available spots to students not currently in that school district. You will have to complete a form (which can be obtained by calling your school distrct and requesting one) where you will indicate your reasons for wanting to change schools. They are evaluated on a first come-first serve basis as well as by need and reasons for the request. You should be notified in writing of their decision by mid-summer. Good luck!
