Admission to the Foster City elementary schools - at this time - is very limited. Currently the enrollment is beyond capacity - and there are waiting lists and lottery's. Your child could be issued an elementary school in San Mateo and not in Foster City. The price to live in FC is high - the home values are high, the property taxes are high, yet the City is simply wonderful -and its schools are rated among the HIGHEST IN THE NATION = thus the high transfer rate for students who do NOT live in FC and want to try to attend a school here. If you do not currently live in Foster City - you wont be able to attend an elementary school in Foster City. (I'm sorry to say)

You say you are "shifting" to Foster City in May - and if your moving into the City - we welcome you - just be prepared to show proof of residence in Foster City (ie you prop tax bill, drivers lic. and utility bill - all under the same name and Foster City address) If you had just planned on having your child transfer into one of the schools - currently and through at least 2013 - transfers are only being done to San Mateo schools and not into Foster City schools.

Middle school - you might be able to get on a wait list - but if the school is at capacity - you will be given a school in San Mateo.
