Hey, you might want to consider giving him a squeeze ball. Sometimes boys develop later than girls . Sometimes you can assume that your child is ADHD. Take your child to a doctor and have them check them out. However, I suggest you tell him (the doctor) what your child is doing, but be careful to diagonse. You are not the doctor. Do not put ideas in their heads. Let the doc's tell you. Sometime we worry and kids are just slow at developing. You should look into diet and excerise. Boys tend to be more aggressive than girls. I have raised four of them and each one is different. Don't be so quick to assign a disabilities to him until you are sure. You should read some books by Gurain and levine. These two books give some info into the differences among boys and girls and how we sometime mistake actions for disablities and rudeness. I hope this info helps!

Have you read about the symptoms in the links I sent you?

If you really think that there is something like ADHD going on, first look at this list of things that mimic ADHD to see if anything sounds like it ought to be investigated:

Then take your child to the pediatrician for a check-up, telling the doctor of your concerns. Ask for a referral to a pediatric psychiatrist or other medical specialist in the area who specializes in ADHD.

A psychologist, especially a school psychologist, can NOT diagnose ADHD as it is a medical condition. You need a medical doctor who can order tests that will rule out things like seizure disorders and make sure that it is safe for your child to take commonly prescribed medications.

Yes he has problems at home too. He was diagnosed at the beginning of school with a learning disabilities, but I think it's more. I think the school psychologist was more focused on the learning diabilitiy then anything else. Do I need to talk with his doctor and determine what needs to be done? I hope someone can help.

There is a wealth of information about ADHD here and at other sites. Start by browsing here:

One important thing to keep in mind is that a child with ADHD will have trouble focusing not only at school, but in other settings as well. If the problem is only at school, then there is something else going on. There are many reasons why a child might not be doing well at school.
