San Jose is pretty big, and there are a lot of schools/school districts. You might want to do a search for a particular school or district. There is a wide range of good and bad schools in San Jose, I'm sure.
I started elementary school in East San Jose at Ben Painter Elementary, then went on to the middle school next to it which is Sheppard Middle school. It was nice then (back in the 80's) but I'm not sure now. I think they're in some school uniform deal. It's kind of strange because it's a public school.
